Grounded in our history.......In 1963, a partnership construction company was formed between John Crouse and Harland Bailey. Their first job was at Pea Ridge, consisting of two small bridges and some curb/gutter work. The crew consisted of Crouse, Bailey, and four or five other men. The company did well and grew to two crews of 35-40 men by 1967. They built overpasses at Conway and Atkins for the interstate highway system, in addition to other state contracts.
In 1970, Bailey retired and John launched the business, Crouse Construction Company, on his own. By 1977, John's son, Dean, joined the company. Both John and Dean graduated from the University of Arkansas with civil engineering degrees. After many years of having worked side by side, John retired and Dean took his place.
